Career Enjoyment
3 Tips for Enjoying Your Career More
Do you have a magic career wand to transport you instantly into your new career? If you don’t, you may still be in your "old" job while preparing for your new job or career. During the overlap, here are 3 tips for enjoying what you are doing more.
Tip #1—Gratitude
At work, you may feel like you’re in the deepest pits of hell. But things could
always be worse. So why not appreciate what you do have, despite the glaring imperfections? Gratitude is a powerful emotion, and the first one to muster up
and use for changing your career. By starting from the place of gratitude, you energetically clear the way for even better things to happen to you.
Begin and end each day you are working with a thank you.
Tip #2—Learn Something New
Learning keeps us young. Learning wakes you up and invigorates the brain, with a stimulation that lasts longer than caffeine.
What can you learn at your present job? Is there a course offered that you’ve
put off taking? Is there a procedure or system that you haven’t tackled, thinking that you’ll be leaving soon? Can you learn a more efficient way of doing your job, even though you think you could do it in your sleep? Is there someone you could learn to communicate with better?
Tip #3—Have Fun Outside of Work
Work isn’t your whole life, though you might spend more time there than anywhere else. When you’re in a stalemate at work, work/life balance may tip to the side of life. So your career is in a temporary lag? Does that mean that life has to be a drag? That you have to be miserable?
No, not if you focus on the things in your life that bring you happiness and joy.
